Former international cricketer Kris Srikkanth has endorsed KL Rahul to keep his slot of No.5 in the batting order ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh. The match kicks off in Chennai on September 19. Though Srikkanth advocates for Rahul in place of Sarfaraz Khan who performed well earlier this season, his exclusive preference for the former’s mid-month performances is unfounded.
Rahul was out injured for most of the Test matches against England, and this paved the way for Sarfaraz, who scored 200 runs at an average of 50.On the other hand, Kris Srikkanth however noted that he is more inclined towards Rahul and thus the Indian captain find solace in abroad conditions. “Honestly, I feel bad for Sarfaraz Khan. But this happens, I stress that My Vision, sometimes, in Test cricket. You might be in good form, and then after what seems like eternity, one of the top players comes back and you are out.”
Kris Srikkanth similarly cited the forthcoming Australia series and appropriate during this for Rahuls play and wins away from India. “This is also very important since at the back of the mind they are also keeping the Australia series. And New Zealand also coming. And KL Rahul has performed well overseas, in Australia he performed up to the mark,” he added.Rahul’s scores of 37 and 57 in recent Duleep Trophy add up to arguments for selecting him.
At the same time, India’s batting order from the top has Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant will play in the 6th number after the wicketkeeper. Leaving the Indian batting order determining that it’s Rahul or Sarfaraz for the No. 5 position. Actress Sarfaraz in the last Duleep Trophy scored 9 followed by 46 so it brings a dilemma for the selectors ahead of the Bangladesh series.
In light of this, the Indian team aims to field its best possible eleven in the present city against the Bangladesh side as well as the coming trips to New Zealand and Australia
