IND vs AUS: Jasprit Bumrah becomes India's leading wicket-taker in Australia

On Wednesday, Jasprit Bumrah made history by becoming India’s leading Test wicket-taker in Australia. He surpassed Kapil Dev’s previous record of 51 wickets during the second session on the final day of the ongoing third Test at the Gabba.

Bumrah struck in the second innings, clean bowling Usman Khawaja (8) and then following up by getting Marnus Labuschagne caught behind by Rishabh Pant in the next over.

Jasprit Bumrah compared to Indian great Kapil Dev

Bumrah now has 52 wickets from 10 Tests in Australia, while Kapil Dev ended his career with 51 wickets in 11 Tests on Australian soil.

1. Jasprit Bumrah – 52*
2. Kapil Dev – 51
3. Anil Kumble – 49
4. R Ashwin – 40
5. Bishan Singh Bedi – 35
Australian spinner Nathan Lyon, meanwhile, is the top wicket-taker in Test matches between India and Australia, with 63 wickets from 18 Tests played on Australian turf.
Currently the top-ranked Test bowler, Bumrah took six wickets for 76 runs in the first innings of the Brisbane Test.

India’s over dependence on Jasprit Bumrah visible in Adelaide

By recording his sixth wicket of the match on Monday, he surpassed Ishant Sharma’s record of 130 wickets to become India’s most successful fast bowler in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries.
Ishant, who last played for India in 2021, accumulated 130 wickets in 41 Tests, including 31 in 13 Tests in Australia and 51 in 15 Tests in England. He took 28 wickets in six Tests in New Zealand and 20 in seven Tests in South Africa.
Most Test Wickets for India in SENA Countries:
1. Anil Kumble – 141
2. Jasprit Bumrah – 133*
3. Ishant Sharma – 130
4. Mohammed Shami – 123
5. Zaheer Khan – 119
6. Kapil Dev – 117
Bumrah has taken 133 wickets in 29 Tests across SENA countries, including 52 in Australia (10 matches), 37 in England (9 Tests), 6 in New Zealand (2 Tests), and 38 in South Africa (8 Tests).
Anil Kumble remains the only bowler with more wickets than Bumrah in SENA, having claimed 141 wickets in 35 matches during his career.
