For the first time, heads of the G7 countries who gathered in Italy will be joined by Vatican. The Vatican announced that on Friday Pope Francis would attend a discussion about ethical consequences of artificial intelligence during one session.
According to Meloni, PM of Italy, this presence by the Pope will “contribute decisively to defining the regulatory, ethical and cultural framework” for AI. This departure from a long-standing Catholic Church practice was explained by Alberto Melloni as follows: “It is necessary to remember that a pope doesn’t need any kind of platforms for his speech because he is not an ordinary politician or leader of any country.”
