Moin Khan, the former captain of Pakistan, is quite surprised with the way India is shying away to come to Pakistan for the India ICC Champions Trophy that will be hosted by Pakistan in 2025. He asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take some steps regarding this if India refuses once more, expressing the deeper dissatisfaction of the cricket fans regarding the political decisions that have led to stagnation of cricket between the two countries for some time.
Speaking on Cricket Pakistan Moin Khan said that Indian cricketers need to step in and convince the BCCI to keep politics out of the sport and compel the BCCI to opt sports over politics.
He said, “An And former Indian cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar Sourav Ganguly Kapil Dev Rahul Dravid etc should ask their cricket board not to mix politics with sports. Politics should not come in the way of cricket. The audience will want to watch cricket between India and Pakistan. Not only Pakistan but cricket will also gain from this.”Khan further expressed that what is the purpose of ICC if India does not play and urged the ICC to compel India to fulfill their responsibilities.
As he stated, “India should fulfill their agreements to the ICC. And in case of their absence, Pakistan must rethink these arrangements and not participate in any event planned on the Indian territory in the future.”
It was stated that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be successfully conducted in Pakistan but there is still uncertainty over India’s participation. Ever since Australia visited Pakistan in 1998, there has not been an BI tour to Pakistan even as political relations remained frozen in time and space and India-Pakistan relations remained very precarious.
