A six-member delegation of the International Cricket Council (ICC) took stock of Pakistan’s readiness for the Champions Trophy in Karachi, which is one of the three host cities for the tournament that begins February 19 — according to a Geo News report.
Timesofindia.com had reported about ICC’s plans to visit Pakistan to review preparedness amid reports of renovation work running behind time at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The latest deadline for completion of work is January 25.

“The six-member delegation, which comprised key ICC officials, broadcasters and logistics personnel, assessed the arrangements thoroughly,” the report said.

It further said that Pakistan Cricket Board’s Director of International Cricket, Usman Wahla, gave the briefing to the ICC officials about the state of renovation work at the stadium.
The eight-team tournament will feature 15 matches. Karachi will host the tournament opener between Pakistan and New Zealand, besides two other group matches.
The tournament will be conducted in a hybrid format, with India playing all their matches, including the semifinal and final if they qualify, in Dubai.

India and Pakistan, who are in Group A, will take on each other in the high-voltage clash on February 23 in Dubai. New Zealand and Bangladesh are the other two teams in the group.
Group B comprises Afghanistan, South Africa, England and Australia.
