After being criticized for advocating for the return of the ILF bill that was previously repealed. Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut explained on Wednesday that her comments were misconstrued and were her views only without disparaging her party. The controversy arose over comments made by Ranaut over the indifferent attitude of the government in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh when she asked the government to bring back the farm laws, which were withdrawn after the farmer’s protest in 2021.
Kangana’s Personal Views on Farm Laws
To address the outrage, Ranaut took to social media to clarify her stand away from the Bharatiya Janata Party. She said “I have to keep this in mind also. I am not an artist. I am a combined party worker of the bharatiya janata party. And I do not stick my neck out because it is my view on behalf of the party except disappointment. So if I let down anyone with my words and my thinking then I will dumb remorse and I take those words back.”

Last week at the press conference, Kangana Ranaut was quoted as saying that the agitations against farm laws were only to be found in a few states only. She said, ‘Farmers are a strength to the process of advancement in India. Only in certain states do farmers have objections to farm laws. I make a request with bowed hands that farm laws should be reintroduced for the good of the farmers. ‘Ranaut claimed greater growth in the agricultural sector with the re-introduction of the laws by guaranteeing better monetary security to farmers.
Opposition’s Response
Opposition has not missed Kangana Ranaut’s remarks. The Congress party condemned her comments, indicating that these are the efforts of the ruling party to revive back the said Act. Other Congress leaders have also pointed out that her statements come at a crucial political period as the state of Haryana is preparing for assembly elections slated for 5th October. For the unversed, the state had been the center stage of the fanner protests of 2020-2021, especially the Delhi borders where numerous fanners pleaded for the repeal of the 3 laws.
Back to Ranaut, apart from her political statements, she is also generating buzz with her movie Emergency. The movie is presently put on hold and today CBFC is scheduled to render a ruling concerning it.
