Rishabh Pant, an eager beaver Indian wicketkeeper and batsman, revealed that he did not feel like going to the airport after his accident because he would not stand people while wheelchairing.
The 26-year-old player suffered multiple injuries in a car accident on Delhi-Dehradun Highway in December 2022.
“This was a life-altering incident for me. I remember waking up from it and I wasn’t even sure if I was alive, but thanks to God who saved me,” commented Pant during ‘Dhawan Karenge,’ a talk show by Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan.
Pant had to undergo major knee surgery and long rehabilitation for the horrifying accident.
When reminiscing about his experience, Pant said, “I couldn’t go to the airport because I was afraid of facing people on wheelchairs. I could not brush my teeth for two months; for six or seven months at least I bore intense agony.”
However, despite all odds, Pant came back into action after fourteen months showing glimpses of his devastating best in the recently concluded IPL. This is his story from a near-death experience to making it back onto the cricket field with guts and resilience.
