Sachin Tendulkar the ‘Little Master’ and his journey to the top, is one which involves amazing skill, dedication, and a deep love for cricket.
Sachin was born on the 24th of April in 1973 in Mumbai, and as child tended to develop an interest in the game of cricket because of his elder brother, Ajit.
When he was just eleven years old, Sachin went to the MRF Pace Foundation after wishing to be a faster bowler.
But the one who saw Sachin’s amazing talent not in bowling but rather in batting was his coach Ramakant Achrekar.
Following Achrekar’s training, Sachin would often practice at Shivaji Park for long hours and play two to three matches at a stretch in various parts of the city to develop his physical as well as mental toughness.
At age sixteen Sachin then represented India during the tour of Pakistan and oppress this country with its best bowling attack during 1989.
Even though he wasn’t a very big boy and was quite small many were impressed by his ability and his display of great technique.
In one of the matches, a bouncer from Waqar Younis struck Sachin right on his face but the Indian batsman instead of wearing the helmet and walking out continued till he batted and made some runs. That determination earned him great admiration.
He was the ‘Little Master,’ as he was small but had the exceptional gift and produced great skill; a name reminding India’s former cricketing great Sunil Gavaskar.
Tendulkar was a compelling and talented cricketer who was capably aggressive at the same time and with the intense desire to score. No wonder, he was indeed one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history.
Sachin managed to set up many records throughout his career, for instance he was the first cricketer to score a century of centuries.
There are three aspects about him which made him a world figure and earned him a permanent place in the record books ever as the ‘Little Master’ of cricket.
