NEW DELHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the pitch ratings for each Test match of the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) between India and Australia.
Four out of the five pitches used during the series were rated as “very good,” which is the highest rating on the ICC’s pitch ranking scale.
The pitches at Perth Stadium, Adelaide Oval, Gabba, and Melbourne Cricket Ground received this top rating, while the surface for the final Test in Sydney was rated as “satisfactory,” the second-highest rating.

Peter Roach, Cricket Australia‘s Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, expressed delight with the quality of pitches produced for the series and acknowledged the hard work of the curators and venues across the country.
Roach emphasized that Cricket Australia encourages pitches that bring out the unique characteristics of each venue, as this has long been a feature of Australian cricket.

The Border-Gavaskar series lived up to its billing as a fiercely contested battle between two cricketing powerhouses. India won the opening Test in Perth, but Australia bounced back with victories in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney.
The rain-affected Test at the Gabba ended in a draw.

Australia’s triumph in the series secured their place in the World Test Championship 2023-25 final against South Africa at Lord’s and ended their long wait for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which they last claimed in 2014-15.
Meanwhile, India is out of contention for the WTC final after this 1-3 series loss.
