Cricket is known as being an unpredictable game, where the fortunes of a match can change rapidly in seconds. Cricket differs from most sports in that it is subject to many influences. These include the weather, the nature of the pitch and even a decision or two.
A batsman who looks set can be undone by an unplayable delivery or a seemingly hopeless situation can be turned around by a great catch or a sudden clump of wickets.
It is this uncertainty that makes cricket exciting and keeps its fans on edge because no result is guaranteed until the very last ball has been bowled.
Such was witnessed during Maharaja Trophy when 3 Super Overs were played to decide on the outcome of a match.
The Maharaja Trophy match between Bengaluru Blasters and Hubli Tigers will go down in history as one of those matches which took three Super overs to find out who won it; for never had there been such happening before in cricket history.
Hubli Tigers under Manish Pandey won against Bengaluru Blasters captained by Mayank Agarwal after both sides’ regular 20-overs innings and two Super Overs failed to produce any result upon completion of their quota of balls.
Tigers batted first and posted 164 while Blasters could only get to 164 runs by losing all their wickets within twenty overs allocated for them. While Pandey scored highest with 33 runs for Tigers, Mayank top-scored with 54 for blasters.
Lavish Kaushal picked up five wickets for Blasters while four wickets fell to Manvanth Kumar L from Tigers.
SUPER OVERS:
In the first Super Over, blaster achieved 10/1 and tiger managed 10/0 forcing second super over.
Hubli declared nine runs as target in second super over; Bangalore made only eight in reply thereby failing to beat it
The game proceeded into a third super over.
