The ILT20’s third season begins on January 11. The Adani Sportsline-owned Gulf Giants are preparing for another exciting season. The Gulf Giants are one of the league’s most successful teams. They won the inaugural season and reached the playoffs in the second. This year, they aim to reclaim their title.
Andy Flower continues as head coach and James Vince as captain for the team. They will lead a strong lineup of domestic and international players. New additions include Tim David, Tom Curran, and Tymal Mills.

“We’re excited to get started with another campaign with this exceptionally talented side. We have managed to assemble a strong core to build our campaign with a blend of international and domestic players adding firepower and depth to our team. We have our plans in place and we will look to go step-by-step in the season to achieve our objectives. We are looking forward to another competitive season,” Flower said, ahead of the new season.
Local talents like Aayan Khan and Zuhaib Zubair are also in the squad. New recruits Saghir Khan and Uzair Khan are also part of the team. They were members of the Gulf Giants’ ILT20 Development League winning side in October.
Aayan Khan took six wickets at an economy of 6.83 last season. He is a key bowler for the Gulf Giants. Zubair, another promising domestic player, is expected to perform well. His bowling was impressive last season. Saghir, a left-handed middle-order batter, scored 193 runs in six matches. His strike rate was 235. Uzair Khan, a left-arm medium pacer, took 15 wickets in six matches. His economy rate was 5.4. Both are domestic players to watch this season.
Captain Vince is the league’s top scorer with 795 runs in 23 matches. He will lead the Gulf Giants’ batting order. He has a strong batting lineup supporting him. This includes Ibrahim Zadran, Shimron Hetmyer, and Jordan Cox.
New signing Adam Lyth brings significant experience. He has scored 4771 runs in 206 T20 matches. Australian power-hitter Tim David is a reliable finisher. His T20 strike rate is over 160. Afghanistan’s top-order batter Zadran provides stability at the start of the innings.
Chris Jordan is the league’s leading wicket-taker. He has taken 31 wickets in 21 matches. He will lead the bowling attack alongside Tymal Mills. Mills has 286 wickets in 231 T20 matches.
All-rounders Tom Curran, Rehan Ahmed, and Dominic Drakes will contribute in all departments. They provide batting depth in the lower order. Pacers Mark Adair and Blessing Muzarabani add flexibility to the bowling unit.
The Gulf Giants begin their campaign on January 12 against Sharjah Warriorz at Dubai International Stadium. The Gulf Giants won both their matches against Sharjah Warriorz last season. They aim to continue this dominance and start their season with a win.
