The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has given more shocking facts on the Apalachee high school shooting incident in which a 14-year-old shooter describes how he smuggled a gun into the premises that fateful day.
22-year-old Colt Gray is alleged to have gunned down two students and two teachers on September 4, and has been charged with murder where he will face adult charges. His father, Colin Gray, has also been arrested for letting his son leave the house with a gun for school. Colin Gray has also been charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of second-degree murder and there are eight counts of cruelty towards children.
The bureau underlined that this fact is notable, as it is the first time in Georgia history that a parent whose child is a shooting suspect is facing charges in relation to the shooting. And the bureau further added that this particular incident marks the second occurrence in history within the nation, where parental involvement in yet another similar case has resulted in criminal prosecution, in a press statement.
The GBI further reported that the type of weapon suited for assault and that which Clause was carrying around in his possession, could not be dismantled nor took a folded dimension like a normal gun Colt however managed to hide it in his school bag. Also, it was emphasized that Apalachee High School does not have metal detectors as part of their security.
“It was Colt Gray who smuggled the gun in to the school on his own,” continued the GBI. ‘The assault-style rifle could not be disassembled but Gray concealed it in his school bag.”
“Answering questions related to the panic alert system, the GBI stated that ‘Teachers wear antitamper badges made with panic buttons which they use to alert police in case of such events. The system had been in use for about a week prior to the incident at Apalachee high school and a number of teachers had pressed the alert buttons,’ explained the GBI,” Anderson wrote.
Concerning how Colt Gray was able to exit the classroom, GBI responded: ‘Colt approached a teacher and requested to go to the front office so that he could talk to somebody.’ Thus, the teacher let him go out with his things. Gray used the bathroom, sneaked around the teachers, then retrieved the rifle and opened fire.
