A case was registered by the Kadavanthra police against a former official of the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) on allegation of forging documents and placing fake purchase order, bringing disrepute to the organization.
The suspect was identified as Satheesh Chandran, a previous HRD assistant manager at Kadavanthra’s Supplyco shop. This complaint was filed by Janson Jacob who is also a Brand Product in-charge at this particular branch.
Based on the first information report, he counterfeited retail outlet’s letterhead along with a forged seal. The individual then allegedly used it to place bogus purchase orders for acquiring corn from two firms in Mumbai and another firm in Rajasthan through two email ids bearing the name of Supplyco on November 11, 2023 and January 10, 2024. In an attempt to mislead, he allowed these bills to be uploaded into Supplyco’ GST account by using unauthorised Goods and Service Tax registration number.
These charges fall under Sections 469 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), and Section471 (using as genuine a forged document) of IPC, while they also violate Sections 66(C) and Sections 66(D) IT ACT.
