In its complaint, the KPCC cited a video uploaded by the official account of the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party on ‘X’, allegedly by Malviya on Nadda, Vijayendra and social media chief Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (Karnataka BJP) to function on May 4.
Police said an FIR has been registered against BJP president JP Nadda, party IT cell chief Amit Malviya and Karnataka unit chief BY Vijayendra for allegedly intimidating Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Castes through their social media posts. Tribe members are not to vote for a specific candidate.
They said the action was taken after the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and the police on Sunday alleging violation of the code of conduct.
A senior police officer said a case was registered under the Representation of the People Act and Section 505 (2) (speech creating or inciting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) of the Indian Penal Code.
In its complaint, KPCC cited a video uploaded on social media platform ‘X’ by an official account of the Karnataka BJP, allegedly run by Malviya in Nadda, Vijayendra and social media head Karnataka BJP Operating under instructions, May 4.
