It is anticipated that the Champions Trophy will be returning to the ICC’s activities after a lapse of seven years and Pakistan will be hosting it between February 19 and March 9. But India’s participation is still in doubt due to the ongoing political issues between both countries.
There have been stories of India agreeing to the tournament only on condition that their matches would be held in neutral venues as part of the hybrid model of the tournament but according to the former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif, India will play a series in Pakistan which he thinks is almost fifty percent confirmed.
“If Jay Shah has won the election without contest (against the ICC chairman), it signifies that the Pakistan Cricket Board has supported this too,” said Latif over the Youtube Channel.
The former stumper seems, each of these development is just a confirmation that Indiajin Peters found one more pack of ready nations who assure him at an accept hints.
Shah who was BCCI honorary secretary since 2019 will assume the office of ICC chairman dislodging Greg Barclay on December 01.
Shah also earned the appreciation of Latif along with the rest of the cricketing world regarding the work he has done regarding the governance of the game.
Latif observed, “Jay Shah’s work so far is not bad for either cricket in general or the BCCI or ICC in particular.”
After co-hosting the World Cup in 1996, Pakistan has not hosted any important ICC tournament. Pakistan was to be the host of the 2023 Asia Cup. But India played its matches in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan last hosted India for the Asia Cup in 2008.
