China dismissed New Zealand’s allegation that Beijing seek foreign active measures against the Chinese communities in Wellington, and described the security threat report as ‘entirely baseless and sheer fabrication.’
The New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) conducted a report which incriminated the country of China of conducting foreign interference activity. Further, the level of foreign interference type of activity in New Zealand, the report stated, ‘remains an ongoing concern’, with a few foreign states actively engaging in interference and espionage against the country and its citizens.

Condemning New Zealand, the spokesperson of the Chinese embassy stated, “These allegations are completely unfounded. Quite like other fabrications they are all of no substance and represent ideologics and cold war mentality which we did not approve nor support them to the fullest extent. Slamming New Zealand, the Chinese embassy’s spokesperson said. Slamming New Zealand, the Chinese embassy’s spokesman said.”
Discussing the significance of the Chinese community in New Zealand, the embassy stated that ‘the report’s blatant efforts to smear the Chinese community and students are simply attempts to cause trouble, instill fear, and divide people everywhere.’ This is highly irresponsible, reckless and largely unjust towards the Chinese community. We have faith in fair-minded people in New Zealand. Such ideas will not be supported, and those who propagate fear and divisions will be defeated.”
The Communists also tried to penetrate the local networks and substitute the original community viewpoints with ones promoted by the State.
