The Election Commission (EC) has asked microblogging site ‘X’ to remove a cartoon shared by the Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in an animated video post.
The European Commission said the post “violated the existing legal framework”.
In its letter to X, the EC directed the social media platform to immediately delete the post. “This is issued with the approval of the competent authorities,” it said.

The video, which allegedly targeted the Muslim community, faced backlash shortly after its release on May 4.
The Karnataka police also issued a notice to X seeking removal of posts targeting Muslims, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Congress took the action after a complaint was lodged with the state’s chief electoral officer on Sunday.
