MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Friday reserved its order, bail application Mainly on health grounds, submitted by Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal in the alleged money laundering case.His bail request was opposed law enforcement bureau (ED) Lawyer Hiten Venegaonkar because he has Hospitalization He is being treated at a private hospital of his choice and there is no expert opinion that he is fit for discharge, so bail should not be considered at this stage.

Goyal is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. His wife’s cancer recently returned, and her lawyer said she “may only have a few months to live.” Goyal’s latest medical report from Reliance Hospital on April 23 indicated that he would not accept Whipple given his wife’s condition surgery, and will only receive chemotherapy during this stage of surgery. The lawyer stated that the above situation complies with the provisions of Article 45 of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China and is consistent with Article 21 (right to life).
Goyal, who has been in jail since his arrest by the ED on September 1, 2023, had recently moved the high court after the special trial judge denied him bail on health grounds.
His plea was that pre-trial imprisonment, even under stricter special laws like the PMLA, must be balanced with the fundamental human rights of the accused and “cannot be used to impose a de facto death penalty on the accused.”
Justice NJ Jamadar said he would pass the order on Monday.
