On the first day of the Duleep Trophy match in Bengaluru on Thursday, Musheer Khan’s unbeaten century helped India B to a total of 202 against India A.
When the match began, the skies looked cloudy and India B struggled early on, which made India A captain Shubman Gill to opt to bowl first. Along with Navdeep Saini, Musheer brought his team back in the game from 94 for 7 with a critical partnership.
He was extremely mature for his young age of just 19, making 105 off 227 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Saini contributed with 29 off 74 balls. Their stand of 108 runs calmed down India B after the top order struggled against the pace attack of India A.
After watching Musheer’s innings, Indian top-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav posted on his Twitter and praised the young gun.
Suryakumar took to his social media handle to say “What a knock Musheer Khan. Supported really well by Navdeep Saini. Duty ke baad roz practice, jitna duty utna practice #DuleepTrophy2024.”
Musheer, brother of Sarfaraz Khan, developed an unusual but effective method when batting, which included walking down the pitch to tackle ball movement.
He demonstrated class by playing a sweet on-drive off Avesh Khan and powerful cut off Khaleel Ahmed the left-arm seamer.
In that particular over, Musheer hit two sixes against spinner Tanush Kotian to display his might too.
Though dropped by Avesh when on 69, Musheer made good of the chance and reached his century off 205 balls with a single off Kuldeep Yadav.
However, other than that, the Musheer-Saini stand has rejuvenated the innings of Indian B as they look to build on the progressed state of the match.
