NEW DELHI: The majority of the players selected for the India team for the opening Test match against Bangladesh, including Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant, were rested on Tuesday for the Duleep Trophy’s second round, which gets underway in Anantapur on September 12.
The other players selected for the national team on Sunday are Dhruv Jurel, Axar Patel, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep. All of these players have been granted an exemption from the second round.
Sarfaraz Khan and left-arm bowler Yash Dayal, who are both included in India’s 16-man squad for the first Test, have not been released from their Duleep Trophy responsibilities, which suggests they will not be included in the playing eleven when India plays Bangladesh in Chennai.
“The selectors have named Pratham Singh (Railways) as a replacement for Gill, Akshay Wadkar (Vidarbha CA) as a replacement for KL Rahul and SK Rasheed (Andhra CA) as a replacement for Jurel,” said the BCCI in a statement, as per PTI.
“Left-arm spinner Shams Mulani will replace Kuldeep in the squad whereas Aaqib Khan (UPCA) will replace Akashdeep in the squad.”
Gill has been replaced as the captain of India A by Mayank Agarwal.
