“Considering the ongoing legal dispute, the judge accepted that the municipal corporation acted in violation of regulations. Therefore, the victims will be compensated for the loss and inconvenience caused due to improper demolition of the houses,” Kumar said.
Doon house razed despite pending case
The victims, who were allotted the lands in 1995 due to their “backward scheduled caste status”, built their homes on them and their names are registered in government records. However, in 2003, the DMC claimed ownership of the land and threatened demolition, resulting in the victims obtaining a stay order from the court. The company has continued demolition work despite the pending case, prompting victims to demand reconstruction and compensation.
