The bag has returned.
On Wednesday, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery mentioned that they will be offering their streaming services-Disney+,Hulu and Max- as part of the traditional cable television bundle.
The new version of the bundle is set to launch this summer with ad-supported and ad-free options. No pricing details were given but insiders hinted that it would be sold at a discounted rate.
This person added, in this case Disney would essentially take on the role of publisher charging its subscribers a subscription fee while paying a certain percentage of that fee to Warner Bros. Discovery.
By combining Max, Hulu, and Disney+ streaming subscribers will have access to content from various sources including ABC and Fox TV networks among other broadcasting stations as well as cable channels including TNT, TBS, CNN, Discovery Channel, Food Network, Disney Channel etc. Although there is no entertainment streaming service from Fox only licensed Hulu content exists.
It’s also worth noting that this offer resembles those old-fashioned cable TV bundles which witnessed massive losses in customer numbers over time; the two media behemoths have been teaming up more frequently recently.
Warner Bros. Discovery Channel and Disney ESPN with Fox Corporation., are also joining forces to offer Sports This Fall Streaming Services.
Accordingly during an earnings call earlier on Wednesday Fox Chief Executive Lachlan Murdoch suggested that he may try coupling some sports streaming venture together with other entertainment streaming offerings.
Disney has been packaging its streaming platforms — Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu — for some time now. However ESPN plus still exists as a separate sports-streaming company coinciding with Warner Bros. Discovery Channel and Disney combination packages but not included in them.Hulu programming is currently available for consumption via the platform of Disney+, although both still need individual subscriptions too.
This means that Max costs $15.99 per month without ads and $9.99 per month with ads. Disney+ has a simple ad-supported plan that costs $7.99 monthly or at $9.99 in combination with Hulu, while the premium plan is available for $13.99 every month at least on its own or when it comes to Hulu as the case may be. Meanwhile, Hulu’s prices are such that it costs $17.99 without ads, and it can be bought for $7.99 with ads.
