The Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) have named Dinesh Karthik, a former Indian wicketkeeper as their batting coach and mentor.
“Welcome back our man of all seasons, Dinesh Karthik. For RCB Men’s team, DK will be the batting coach and mentor. You can take a man out of cricket but you cannot take cricket out of him! 12th Man Army shower him with all love!,” RCB posted on ‘X’ on Monday.
However, Karthik had announced his retirement from the game on June 1st after playing for RCB in IPL-2024 where he scored 326 runs in 15 matches at an average of 36.22. And a strike rate of 187.35 including two half centuries and a top score of 83.
This year-old Indian cricketer said goodbye to the game with an emotional statement: “In these past few days I think I have been overwhelmed by affection, support and love I have got it. I want to say thank you very much my fans for making me feel like this.”

Karthik has played in a total of 256 games scoring almost 26 runs per match at a strike rate exceeding 135 and comprising twenty-two fifties. Among all dismissals, he comes second to nobody else except Dhoni by both stumping totals (36) and overall dismissals (172).
