The Punjabi poet and writer, Sujit Patal, who was highly respected, passed away peacefully at his residence near Barewal Colony in Punjab at the age of 79. Family members tried to wake him up on Saturday morning but he was unresponsive, confirming he had slipped away in his sleep. Patal’s wife is still alive whilst his two sons; one lives in Australia where he left a rich legacy.
Countless lives are affected by his influence leaving an irreplaceable void. Satinder Sartaaj uploaded a picture of the deceased writer and wrote a verse in Punjabi as a tribute to Patal.

Surjit Patal’s literary contributions includeHavovich Wright Huff” and “Patjhar Di Pazeb” left an indelible mark. This really shows how much he has impacted the world because he was awarded, among other things, the Padma Shri in 2012. He is a native of Patal Village in Jalandhar district and holds a Ph.D. from Guru Nanak Dev University with his dissertation on folk transformation of Guru Nanakwani. For example, as a professor of Punjab Agricultural University, apart from writing poetry, he translated the works of great foreign authors into Punjabi.
