NEW DELHI: Every morning, office workers wake up, iron their formal attire and get dolled up, but that’s no longer the case on Monday. India’s premier research organization, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research)CSIR) as part of its initiative, requiring employees to wear rumpled clothing on Mondays.Wrinkles are okay.’

In line with wider energy conservation goals, CSIR is developing a series of standard operating procedures aimed at reducing electricity consumption in laboratories across the country. The initial goal is to achieve a 10% reduction in workplace electricity bills. These SOPs will be implemented on a trial basis from June to August 2024.
Known for its ground-breaking research and development across a wide spectrum of science and technology, CSIR is India’s premier research and development institution.
It has an extensive network of 37 national laboratories supporting 3,521 active scientists and 4,162 technical and support staff. CSIR research spans disciplines ranging from oceanography, geophysics, and pharmaceuticals to genomics, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. Its diversified product portfolio extends to mining, aviation, environmental engineering and information technology.
