CONTROVERSY! Chris Woakes denied an OUTSTANDING catch by bold umpiring decision - watch

Chris Woakes was denied arguably one of the greatest catches in England cricket history after third umpire Chris Gaffaney controversially ruled that his trailing right foot had breached the boundary rope and was grounded when he had the ball in contact.
Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha was on strike after lunch on day two, when he launched Jack Leach down the ground.
Woakes was stationed at long-off and, peddling back, caught the ball, threw it in the air as he stepped outside the rope, before hopping back in to complete the catch.
England, and even Salman, thought the catch had been taken legally and early replays suggested they were right.
But, on further slow motion assessment, Gaffaney concluded that Woakes’s back foot was touching the ground outside the boundary with the ball in his grasp.

England cricket team could barely believe the decision. When Salman gave the same treatment to Leach’s next delivery, the pill became even more bitter to swallow.
Such catches are common in limited-overs cricket, when multiple fielders are stationed on the boundary and often throw the ball to one another while diving beyond the rope. In Test cricket, it is a less common occurrence.
Following the loss of nightwatchman Naseem Shah and Mohammad Rizwan, Salman helped Pakistan on Day 2.
On Tuesday, Saud Shakeel, with the help of Naseem, frustrated a disciplined England attack early on. They ticked past 400 runs immediately after lunch as they looked to build a total that would bat England out of the game on a very flat surface.
