Pitroda said in the podcast, “We have survived for 75 years in a very happy environment where people can live together and put aside some of the sporadic fighting…We can bring a diverse country like India together. East. People look like Chinese, Westerners look like Arabs, Northerners look like white people, and Southerners look like Africans.
“It doesn’t matter. We are all brothers and sisters. We respect different languages, different religions, different customs, different foods,” Pitroda said in an interview widely circulated on social media.
The BJP fielded Irani from Amisi for the third time in a row. She lost to Rahul Gandhi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections but defeated him in 2019.
The Congress party fielded Kishori Lal Sharma, a close aide of the Nehru-Gandhi family, against Irani from Amethi.
Polling in Amethi is scheduled for May 20.
