Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Sunday sought election committee Action was taken against BJP national president JP Nadda and other senior leaders for allegedly violating the code of conduct by posting videos on social media intimidating members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes not to vote for a particular candidate.
In its complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, the Congress mentioned a video uploaded on social media platform ‘X’ by the official Karnataka BJP account @bjp4karnataka, headed by IT department chief Amit Malviya in charge of operations BJP state president JP Nadda, BJP state president and social media head BY Vijayendra – Karnataka BJP spoke on May 4 at 5:34 pm.
“The above video posted on social media features animated characters Rahul Gandhi and Siddaramaiah. In the film, the SC, ST and OBC communities are depicted as “eggs” in a nest, which also implies that Rahul Gandhi planted a big egg marked for the Muslim community. It is expected that funds will be fed to the chicken portrayal of the Muslim community and then the SC, ST and OBC communities will be kicked out.
The letter also pointed out that the Congress party’s manifesto did not mention that allocations to SC, ST and OBC communities would be cut and transferred to the Muslim community.
“The BJP has been falsely accusing the Congress party of including Muslims in the OBC category and through this false propaganda, the saffron party has been canvassing votes during the Lok Sabha elections,” it claimed.
KPCC further claimed that the video was posted on the official X account of the BJP to win votes in the Lok Sabha polls.
“It is clear that the video they posted on social media is to intimidate members of the SC/ST community not to vote for the Congress as they anticipate that the funds reserved for them will be appropriated by Muslims,” the statement said.
The actions of the accused, apart from intimidating SC/ST members not to vote for a particular candidate and causing animosity to SC/ST members, also wantonly instigated riots and incited enmity between different religions and was not conducive to maintaining harmony, the letter added road.
