On Wednesday, China’s defence ministry reported that it successfully fired an inter-continental ballistic missile (ICBM) into the pacific ocean through the people liberation army (PLA).
Moreover, the ministry stressed that the said launch “was not against any country or objective and did comply with the norms of international law”, agency Reuters reported.
ICBMs or intercontinental ballistic missiles are armed with a nuclear head and have a range extending beyond dollar 5000 km.
As per the statement, the Rocket Force of the Chinese military on September 25 at 08.44 (China is 2.30 hours ahead of India) launched ICBM which carried a dummy warhead on high seas of the Pacific Ocean and the missile landed in the designated areas in sea.
“The ministry statement said this missile launch is not an exception in the routine where Rocket Force organizes its military training in Ongoing basis diem. It properly evaluates the operational capability of the arms and equipment and the degree of troop training.”
“It achieved the expected effect. China informed other countries that it suspended the ICBM development,” the South China Morning Post quoted the ministry as saying.
