Charith Asalanka has been named the new Sri Lanka Twenty20 skipper by the Cricket Board of the island ahead of a white ball series against India.
As per AFP, 27-year-old middle-order batsman replaced Wanindu Hasaranga who resigned 11 days ago after Sri Lanka was knocked out early from the T20 World Cup in June.
Dhananjaya de Silva is still captain in Test cricket but there is no mention whether the management intended to make changes now in the ODI set-up being led by Kusal Mendis.
On Monday, Indian squad landed ahead of Pallekele in Kandy where three Twenty20 games will be played starting Saturday. From August 2, three ODIs will be played at Premadasa Stadium Colombo.
