In the fourth T20I at the Oval on Thursday, England speedster Mark Wood’s produced a pearler that left clueless Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan ducking.
Azam and the commentators were left speechless by Wood’s 88.4mph ball which had just been hit by a paceman of his dreams causing him to avoid it completely.
This caught Azam unawares as the jaffa by Wood’s arrived in the eleventh over of the Pakistani innings.
A mean, fast bouncer from Wood’s landed on the back foot and climbed steeply to make its way towards the batsman rapidly. The batter, who was yet to score any runs, tried to get out of its path while it was directed straight towards his face.
Thereby, Azam got nowhere near it – it flicked off his gloves first before looping up onto his shoulder again and then finally went right into Jos Buttler’s hands.
For a duck made in five balls, Azam was sent back by an unplayable one from Wood’s.
England bowled Pakistan out for 157 in their last game as they chased down that total with 27 deliveries unused to win by nine wickets against Jos Buttler’s side heading into its defense of the T20 World Cup title with a two-zero series sweep over Pakistan.
