On Saturday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said (September 14, 2024) that handling of Eknath Khadse’s case regarding his reinduction into BJP will be the responsibility of Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) party after Ganesh festival as is on now.
He further stated that there is going to be good news for farmers because the Centre has imposed customs duty on crude as well as refined sunflower and soybean oils.
Addressing media at Nagpur airport in response to a question about Mr. Khadse’s rejoining in BJP Mr. Fadnavis said, “The BJP’s central leadership will take the appropriate position, whatever decision it takes, will be taken. We would have discussions with the party in that regard and a decision would come after the Ganesh festival.”
There was an increase in the speculation of Mr. Khadse, a former Member of Parliament with the Nationalist Congress Party (O) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), returning back to BJP when the daughter in law of Khadse was renamed by BJP to run for Lok Sabha and made Union Minister of state post victory.
But even after Mr. Khadse as well as other BJP officials were willing and expressed it in earlier part of the year that he is ready for the Bharatiya Janata Party membership, there has not been any announcement from the BJP on though Mr. Khadse expressed interest in it earlier this year.
While addressing a regional news channel earlier this week, Mr. Khadse said, “I…Mr. Khadse, I was open to coming back to the BJP party, but the upper echelons of the Party were insisting on this. While I conversed with BJP President J. P. Nadda, he in fact presented me with a scarf and proclaimed that I had joined the BJP.” In October 2020, Mr. Khadse left the BJP and joined the undivided Nationalist Congress party. He had then turned against Mr. Fadnavis, blaming him for hitting a nail in his political ambitions.
In an interaction with the media, Mr. Fadnavis expressed satisfaction with the rise in the basic customs duty on crude and refined sunflower and soybean oils.
The Government, on Friday (September 13, 2024), raised the basic customs duty rate of crude palm, soybean, and sunflower seed oil to 20% from nil level while the basic customs duty rate on refined palm oil, soybean oil, and sunflower oil was increased from 12.5% to 32.5%.
It also brought down the duty on onion export to twenty percent from forty percent which was imposed on May four last year.
“Very important decisions have been taken by the Modi government so that farmers are able to sell their crops at a reasonable price. Farmers will reap enormous benefits from these moves,” he noted.
“Even earlier there was a problem regarding onions. But the U. S. Government’s decision to decrease the onion export duty will turn out to be extremely rewarding to the farmers of this crop. Such decisions will help out soybean, onions and Basmati rice farmers and it will help cotton farmers indirectly as well,” said Mr. Farman.
Commending the change of name from Portblair to Sri Vijaya Puram, Mr. Fadnavis added that the signs of servitude must be erased.
On Friday, 13th September 2024, Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that Port Blair, the capital of the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is now known as Sri vijaya puram.
