The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday filed a complaint against the Congress party with the Election Commission, alleging that the Congress party was trying to create “tension” in society and spread lies that it would amend the constitution.

The Delhi Police registered an FIR on Sunday after the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs lodged a complaint regarding the video tampering case. It has since summoned 22 people, including Congress leader and Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Jharkhand Congress president Rajesh Thakur.
“The Congress and other opposition parties are constantly spreading lies about individuals, policies and the constitutional system. Efforts are being made to create a tense atmosphere in the society. We have informed the Election Commission (EC) of more than 15 such incidents,” Trivedi told reporters after meeting poll panel officials.
He claimed that Congress and its allies were doing so in an “organized manner” in order to create obstacles to free and fair elections.
“Congress is making such statements, allies are repeating these statements. And then their social media (units) are spreading the same lies, confusion and deep fakes (videos) among people in illegal ways,” Trivedi said.
He said the poll panel gave a patient hearing to the BJP delegation and assured it of taking appropriate action.
Speaking to reporters, Chandrasekhar said, “In the last two phases of the elections, the Congress party has been relying on a series of political lies from high-level leaders like Rahul Gandhi to many leaders.” The Congress is pursuing a campaign based on A political strategy of lies and distortion of the truth. He said this was misleading the people and making them believe its lies, such as that the BJP would change the constitution if it won the elections.
“A delegation of the BJP met the Election Commission and brought to its attention the challenge this will pose to free and fair polls,” Chandrasekhar said.
He said the Election Commission should study these issues as early as possible to ensure that the election is conducted free and fair and that people are not misled by the Congress Party’s “politics of lies”.
In a memorandum to the Election Commission, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party referred to speeches by Congress president Mallikarjun Haq, Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders, claiming that the saffron party, if elected, would amend the constitution and abolish reserve.
It urged the poll panel to take a comprehensive look at the “design and pattern” of misleading campaigning and propaganda by the Congress party and take “effective action” to combat it to ensure “fair competition” in the elections.
The BJP demands: “Direct Rahul Gandhi to make an unconditional public apology to the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making false accusations… Directly register an FIR against Rahul Gandhi as per strict legal provisions district.
The party added that the “endless tirade” against the BJP continues unchecked “despite numerous representations made to the Election Commission earlier in this regard”.
