Biju Janata Dal (BJD) administration, on Thursday, released their manifesto of simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections with the goal of making Odisha the largest state in the country by 2036.
While launching the party’s regional manifesto at Kalinga stadium, BJD president Naveen Patnaik had said that Kalingashree and Kalinga Bhushan Awards will be given each year to celebrate Odisha’s rich culture and heritage similar to Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards.
“The first cabinet meeting of the new BJD government will accept this manifesto,” said Patnaik.
The manifesto that will transform Odisha into a modern state based on identity and growth is believed possible through this 5T governance model that has been put across by different parties according to him.
“Key aspect of this manifesto is youth empowerment where Rs 100 crore has separately been provided for Odisha youth over next ten years” he added.
Moreover, there is a commitment by the party to increase scholarships for girls and boys as well as create two hundred thousand government jobs within five years. Besides, they also have plans to establish a Skills and Entrepreneurship University, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Artificial Intelligence University in Odisha.
For industrial purposes, emphasis is laid on attracting investments in new technologies such as semiconductors, IT parks or artificial intelligence so as to promote eco-tourism. Also, it promised free electricity to households using less than 100 units per month while those using between 100-150 units would get electricity subsidies.
The manifesto stated that middle-class families would benefit from programs like Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana insurance coverage; home loan interest subsidy; children’s scholarship etc.
Furthermore, interest-free loans; self-help group financial linkages along with pension schemes are part of plans outlined in the manifesto which empower women, tribals, OBCs and minority communities.
According to the manifesto, SHGs will receive government business worth Rs 20,000 crore in next 10 years. A corpus fund of Rs 100 crores to provide subsidized loans ranging up to Rs 10 lakh for setting up and scaling up their businesses has been set aside for Women individual entrepreneurs. Mission Shakti will give pension to women. In its manifesto, the BJD promised that all grassroots women workers, community support workers, anganwadi workers and ASHAs will also get Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) insurance cover and social security pension.
Among other things, this includes food security, agricultural support systems, heritage protection as well as language development.
KALIA scheme for farmers like this party plans to continue as well as extend it and provide financial assistance for marriage and crop loans for dependent girls.
