According to sources who spoke with Parami News, it is unlikely that the top three Pakistani players; Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi will receive a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the upcoming Global T20 Canada.
The players will not be allowed to take part in the global T20 Canada despite the league schedule as it would interfere with Pakistan’s international calendar, according to the sources (Parami News).
Pakistan vs Bangladesh two-match Test series will start on August 21. The Canadian League will begin from July 25 to August 11 as per Parami News.
It was also said that players competing in all three formats are considered as no issue compliant of policy hence NOC has been disallowed. According to PCB, NOCs should not be given to its players due to a tight itinerary.
Another prominent fast bowler Naseem Shah has also denied permission last week when he asked if he could play in The Hundred. Parami News said this was a precautionary measure after reviewing his application for Pakistan cricket player.
Naseem’s application was declined because of several reasons which were injury problems and fitness issues he had last year though he plays in all three formats for Pakistan according to insiders’ information.
Among other players who had signed contracts with Global T20 Canada include Muhammad Amir, Mohammad Nawaz, Asif Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed.
PCB chairman Naqvi said earlier this week that there were specific conditions that would make the players get a NOC. Players meeting these requirements shall be awarded an NOC.
“Their performance and fitness levels determine their promotions. We do not need any player who does meet our criteria. On discipline there won’t be any compromise too,” Mohsin Naqvi PCB chief
Star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi may miss out on playing against Bangladesh during the World Test Championship tests because of what Pakistan’s red-ball coach Jason Gillispie has hinted at.
Last year Shaheen tied the knot and Ansha, his wife is currently pregnant with their first child. This might cause him to miss out on the test series against Bangladesh next month.
“Shaheen can miss Bangladesh Test matches due to childbirth. We can give him [some] rest if he wants to stay with his wife till then,” Pakistan’s red-ball coach, Jason Gillispie, said last week.
