On Friday, England celebrated a convincing victory over West Indies as legendary swing bowler James Anderson retired from an illustrious 188-match test career which spanned over two decades.
Following his retirement, the cricket community paid tribute to the swing master’s extraordinary accomplishments on social media.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam Pakistan’s skipper in T20 took this opportunity to congratulate Anderson for his wonderful career. However, Babar was bashed by fans on ‘X’ for his post on social media platform and deleted it.
Babar had written “It was a privilege to face your cutters, Jimmy! The beautiful game will now miss one of its greatest. Your incredible service to the sport has been nothing short of remarkable. Huge respect for you, GOAT!”
After some fans pointed out that Babar faced very few cutters from Anderson, he made a slight adjustment on the post by substituting ‘cutters’ with ‘swing’.
“It was a privilege to face your swing , Jimmy! The beautiful game will now miss one of its greatest. Your incredible service to the sport has been nothing short of remarkable. Huge respect for you, GOAT,” he later wrote.
The internet has since gone into humorous frenzy against the batsman since Babar made changes to his caption. There were various hilarious responses from social commentators around the world.
In that match English seamer seized upon their 250 run lead which saw West indies six down at end of play day two.Atkinson bowled beautifully again but Anderson made it early with a magnificent ball that came back and hit Brathwaite’s stumps.
Anderson finished his career with an impressive record equalling 704 Test wickets which put him just four behind Shane Warne who died not long ago and remains till today as most Test wicket-taking fast bowler in history.
