“With malice in law, the Delhi Police on 11th July 2034 described applications made by a number of the accused involved in the Delhi riots case that demanded for the status of the probe as “filed with mala fide” and “with an obvious intention to delay trial”. According to reports, Devangana Kalita, Natasha Narwal, Asif Iqbal Tanha, Meeran Haider and Athar Khan had filed applications for knowing about their investigation’s present standing.”
According to Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad however, “There is no legal provision for granting relief and these pleas had been filed with clear intent to delay the trial.”
The court has fixed August 8 as the date for further hearing.
