According to PTI source on Thursday, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) plans to suspend wrestler Antim Panghal for three years.
Panghal, who tried to use her accreditation card to get her sister into the Athletes Village during the Olympics, brought shame upon the Indian contingent.
On Wednesday, Antim Panghal was defeated in her opening match of the women’s 53kg weight category and thus eliminated from the Olympics.
“The formal announcement will be made after she reaches India,” said a member of this group.
The athlete and those accompanying him/her were sent back home by IOA due to a disciplinary breach as reported by France authorities. The gravity of their misconduct warranted immediate repatriation.
“Last night an insider claimed that her sister was arrested for cheating and was taken down town where she had given evidence,” one insider told me.
