India’s Aman Sehrawat, an Indian wrestler had the bronze medal in his basket at Paris Olympics wrestling event in the 57kg freestyle category thereby becoming India’s inaugural wrestling medallist at Paris. On Friday, Sehrawat, 21, emerged as a national hero after winning a medal with a 13-5 victory over Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico.
Sehrawat said: “I am very happy and I still can’t believe that I have won a medal for the country at the Olympics.” “I was hoping for the gold but I am happy with bronze as well.”
The young wrestler described himself as “speechless” when he stood on top of the Olympic podium and outlined his future goals. He added that it was a speechless moment when he stood on the podium…from today my next target will be to prepare for the 2028 Olympics and 2026 Asian Games,” pointing out that he wants to succeed more in wrestling.
In one leg hold, Cruz led off against Cruz who is from Puerto Rico. After taking control back as fast as possible by targeting Cruz’s shoulders, Aman Sehrawat began scoring points. Despite attempts by Cruz to reestablish advantage through two-point move, Sehrawat maintained his calmness to add some more points and finally won a bout.
The bronze medal which he obtained in Paris will serve as further motivation towards global success during upcoming major competitions.
