Ajinkya Rahane, the ex-captain of India is now sign to play for Leicestershire in England’s county cricket game for the remainder of this season.
During the final five matches of County Championship and Leicestershire Foxes’ campaign in One Day Cup, the 36-year-old batsman will take part.
The county has invited Rahane to temporarily replace Wiaan Mulder who may tour West Indies with South Africa’s national team in August.

Rahane also boasts over 8k runs for Team India alongside a total number of centuries that stand at fifteen; he achieved his best Test score against New Zealand with 188 being his highest individual tally in 2016.
“I am excited about returning to Leicestershire. I’ve established a strong bond between Claude (Henderson) and Alfonso (Thomas), and it feels good to be back at home with them,” read a statement by Rahane released by the club.
“I followed last year’s results closely and they were impressive. My aim is to enjoy my cricket this season whilst contributing towards more success for The Club.”
He is expect to join the team by mid-July where his opening game will be against Notts Outlaws on July 24th.
“We are delight that Ajinkya will join us. It was unfortunate we couldn’t get Ajinkya last year just because our schedules didn’t match up. However, having him available during some crucial games is really great,” said Claude Henderson – Director of Cricket at Leicestershire County Cricket Club
“In addition to being an excellent run-scorer, he brings vast experience and valuable leadership qualities into our squad. Besides all that, his arrival will give our young batsmen a great chance to learn from one of the best players in cricket.”
