Mohan Bhagwat, the head of RSS.
The queen of Indore in late Holkar Ahilyabai Holkari has been described by the head of RSS Mohan Bhagwat as an “ideal ruler” on May 30 during a message commemorating her 299th birthday. As she was married off at young age and stayed as a widow for almost three decades, the latter became a ruler of Indore sometimes in the 18th century through the same time it has got hold that is not just modern but also substantively facilitated to breathe life into Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Maheshwari weaving.
“Even presently her demeanor appeals unbeatably. She became a widow early in life but although being alone, she never only governed her vast territory but also enlarged it, hence not merely widening it’s threshold but using good governance to operate it. She reflects what kind of governor we should like”, he argued in video recorded speech.
To quote him further, Mr. Mohan Bhagwat stated how she had set up industries so that people could be employed thereon and these textile industries still exist in Maheshwar which are providing jobs even today. “Her name is followed by Punyashlok; Punyashlok being that leader who liberates people from all deprivities. These factories were established by her to provide job opportunities for locals with their strong industry yet producing textiles in Maheshwar till this day,” he said while adding “She cared for everyone.”
“The taxation regime within her jurisdiction was well organized. She looked after farmers. Her kingdom was perfect in every way: its history, traditions, economy… Throughout the year people will continue trying to copy here or remember something about her – this is such great joy!”, he shared his thoughts.
Meanwhile sources said that RSS will support events marking start of celebrating 300 years since birth of late queen.
