Dauki SHO Rampal Singh said the man was identified as Dharmendra Dhakrey and further action has been taken against him.
A man hurled a shoe at Bharatiya Janata Party national president Swami Prasad Maurya at a rally on Friday.
Dauki SHO Rampal Singh said the man, Dharmendra Dhakrey, has been arrested and further action is being taken against him.
A spokesperson of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) claimed that Dakhre was associated with the organization.
Maurya left the Samajwadi Party in February and formed the Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party. The incident took place this evening when Moriya was addressing a rally in support of the Fatehpur Sikri Party candidate in Daukhi.
Speaking to PTI, ABHM spokesperson Sanjay Jaat said, “When Maurya was delivering a speech in Dawki, one of our members threw a shoe at him. We object to the leader’s remarks against Ramcharitmanas.
Maurya has stirred up controversy by claiming that certain verses in the Ramcharitmanas, the sacred Awadhi text based on the epic Ramayana, “insulted” a large section of society on the basis of caste and therefore these verses should be prohibit.
“We also wrote a blood letter calling for his admission to a mental hospital as he disrespected Hindu saints and Ram Charitmanas,” Jat said.
Members of the Maharaja also threw ink on the Maurya procession and waved black flags as it passed through Fatehabad. Members threw black ink on the procession and shouted slogans of “Jai Shri Ram”. We have been following the Maurya procession at the Fatehabad toll plaza on the Agra-Lucknow highway.
Some members protested in Fatehabad and raised black flags as it passed by. In addition, they poured ink on his car, Jatt said.
When he quit the party, Moriya accused the Samajwadi Party leadership of discriminating against him and failing to defend his remarks at the consecration ceremonies of Ramcharitmanas and Ayodhya temples.
He joined the Samajwadi Party ahead of the 2022 assembly elections, left the BJP and contested unsuccessfully from Fazil Nagar.
Before joining the BJP in 2016, Swami Prasad Maurya served in the BSP and was an opposition leader in the Akhilesh Yadav regime. Recently, Maurya announced his candidacy for Kushinagar Lok Sabha seat.
