On Wednesday, Russia’s Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced that a region-wide state of emergency had been declared following the unrelenting attacks from Ukraine.
According to Reuters news agency, Gladkov said in a video uploaded on Telegram messenger that the situation in the Belgorod region remains very difficult and tense.
Gladkov added that civilians have been killed and injured among them as they were firing shells at homes by Ukrainian troops day after day
Thus, we make this decision from today going forward: a regional emergency mode will be introduced throughout the Belgorodd region … with subsequent address to the government about declaration of federal emergency mode,” stressed the governor.
After Ukraine made its most substantial incursion into Russia during the war, Moscow responded by declaring a “federal-level” emergency in Kursk several days ago.
Simultaneously, hundreds of Ukrainian military personnel crossed into Russia – perhaps Kyiv’s largest-ever attack on Russian territory since hostilities began. At the same time, a Russian missile launched from an airplane struck a Ukrainian shopping center killing some persons and wounding others.
The missile hit Kostiantynivka mall situated in Eastern Donbass killing at least 11 people and injuring another 44 according to authorities.
This attack took place in residential quarter of this town; thick black smoke rose above mall after strike. Donetsk regional head Vadym Filashkin called it ‘another act of terror by Russians’ on his Telegram page.
In September last year another devastating blow happened when Russian missile struck an open market there killing 17 people. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that reinforcements are on their way to repel the Ukrainian invasion in Kursk.
The reinforcement includes multiple rocket launchers, towed artillery guns, tanks on trailers, heavy tracked vehicles as mentioned by RIA-Novosti news agency citing defense ministry.
Addressing Ukraine via TV screen earlier Zelensky indirectly referred to assault and mentioned about the necessity to increase pressure upon Russia.
“Peace will be closer when more pressure is put on Russia the aggressor who brought war to Ukraine, “he said.
In February 24th, Russia invaded Ukraine which it called a special military operation; since then an armed conflict between two neighboring countries has been going on all along.
