New Delhi: A collective of 181 current and former individuals Vice-Chancellor (VC) issued an open letter with heads of regulatory agencies including AICTE urging “appropriate action” against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi.
They accused him of allegedly spreading lies about the appointment process of university presidents and tarnishing the reputation of the VC’s office.
Among the signatories are from University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University of Delhi, MS University of Baroda, Central University of Haryana, Mahendragarh, North Eastern Hills University, Shillong, Chairman of Association of Indian Universities, Chairman of AICTE, Former Chairman of UGC, Director of NCERT, etc.

“We strongly urge all individuals involved to use discernment, separate fact from fiction, avoid spreading unfounded rumors, and engage in informed, constructive dialogue and support in creating a dialogue where we have a common goal,” the letter reads. The letter emphasized that the venture capital selection follows a strict and transparent process and is based on the principles of meritocracy, academic excellence and integrity, with the aim of driving the university forward.
Responding to Gandhi’s “tweets and public sources” claiming that the Vice President’s appointment is based solely on affiliation with an organization and not on merit and qualifications, the open letter states, “In the firmest belief, Vice Presidents of prestigious universities across the country Chancellors and academic leaders, please respond to and refute the baseless allegations that have been circulating recently about the selection process.
The letter concludes by urging authorities to take appropriate legal action against these actions Rahul Gandhi’s alleged actions.
“In view of the fact that Rahul Gandhi has resorted to lies and defamed the entire Office of the Deputy Prime Minister with the intention of gaining political gain from it. The government is therefore kindly requested to take appropriate action against him as per the law without delay.
