The actress shared her love for wildlife in a heartfelt post.She posted two photos of herself holding an elephant statue, and in the second photo, she attached a 1974 newspaper article showing Zeenat Aman and Dev Anand attending an event animal welfare She laments seeing an old statue in pain on a film set and ponders the ethical ramifications of her work.
“Recently, I was moved to tears when I arrived on set to find an elderly domestic elephant on set. She stood on the burning asphalt, decked out in jewelry—and as the camera of turning and she stayed there all day. I am contractually bound to do my job but I absolutely feel guilty that such a majestic animal is suffering for my job and your entertainment, (sic) )” she wrote.
Zeenat also urged colleagues in the industry not to bring animals into filming locations. “This is my sincere and urgent appeal to my colleagues and compatriots across the country movie industry Avoid bringing wild animals onto the set at all costs. We are lucky that India is home to most of the world’s Asian elephant population and this species is our national heritage animal. We are also lucky to have many organizations in India dedicated to the welfare and conservation of this incredible animal. I’m sharing some resources from organizations like this about my story. I would be happy if you read them carefully.
Citing an older news article, Zeenat Aman revealed, “My concern for wildlife is an old story – swipe to see a clip from 1974 – but only now have I been able to make a more concerted appeal on these issues. Due to I can’t stand taking photos with beautiful elephants because they are affected by the chaos of our shooting locations, so here are the photos of “my” elephants I have collected over the years.
