Zayed Khan, a once-promising Bollywood star, has now spoken candidly about what led to the downfall of his career. According to Zayed in an interview, his concentration on multi-starrer movies affected his path significantly.
For those not in the know, Sanjay Khan’s son Zayed made a grand entrance into showbiz industry. Although Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne, his debut film wasn’t that successful and earned only moderate revenues at box office , it was Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na where he played Shahrukh Khan’s brother which catapulted him into stardom. But this turned out to be not the case for all such projects including some multi-starrer movies as they failed to achieve similar market results.
Zayed Khan ACCEPTS Taking Early Success for Granted
Zayed admitted to Zoom that when he had achieved success at an early stage, he took it as granted and never bothered about prioritizing solo lead characters. He said: “I took my stardom for granted and didn’t listen when people advised me to do single-hero films. Once you become part of a market, you have to prove yourself as someone who can carry a movie on your shoulders. It is very intimidating. I wanted big films…I wasn’t raised [that way]. I’m such an action genre junkie that even though there were always better options available in terms of commercial massy cinema.”
Zayed Khan REGRETS Doing Multi-Starrer Films
The actor further explained himself saying “Sometimes many actors come together and budgets have to be justified due to their presence. Maybe it was too early for me.” However, before opting for such blockbuster movies I should have built my brand name first. Yeah, maybe I regret that now that some of them didn’t quite hit the jackpot…as easy as signing your own name” Remember Blue? Who wouldn’t sign that film?”
Zayed Khan on Father Sanjay Khan’s Disapproval
The actor also spoke about his father’s disapproval over his career choices. He said, “He was very miffed with me. We used to have a lot of arguments about that. He had his reservations.”
Zayed also disclosed that he kept away from movies and took a backseat because he was being given “second lead” parts which he refused to accept. “Offers started coming in where they wanted to make me a second fiddle or a supervillain, and I wasn’t ready to do those kinds of roles,” he said.
