There were Houthi rebels in Yemen’s that fired a missile at the US aircraft carrier “Eisenhower” on Friday as announced by a military spokesman for the rebels, Yahya Saree. In response to recent air strikes on Yemeni soil by the United States and Britains.
According to Saree, there have been six American and British attacks which caused casualties resulting in death of sixteen people and injured forty one others including civilians. Among other places, these strikes targeted Salif port, Ghalifa camp and two houses in Hodeida province located in Al-Hawk district with radio building as well.
Confirming this information both US Central Command and British defence ministry stated that it had committed airstrikes against this group in order to deter them from impediment of navigation in Red Sea area. The joint operation covered 13 locations within the areas controlled by Houthis in Yemen’s focusing mainly on Hodeida where some drones along with surface to air weapons were reportedly placed.
During his briefing done on this matter, Mohamed Abdelsalam is heard condemning such an action which he terms as “brutal aggression” directed towards Yemen’s while calling out its link to supporting Gaza. On the other side Nasser Kanaani who is Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson accused both American and British governments of perpetrating “crimes against the Yemeni people” whose consequences they shall bear.
Since November last year when Israel started fighting Hamas which has been supported by a series of attacks on international shipping vessels passing through Red Sea; since February United States led coalition under British command has retaliated with heavy bombing runs killing many more persons thereby making situation North Africa very unstable.
