Mr. Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, MLA, has accused the opposition of being complicit with BJP State unit president B.Y. Vijayendra and Karnataka Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar to topple CM Siddaramaiah over alleged MUDA site distribution irregularities.
“Such a connection exists between Mr. Shivakumar and Mr. Vijayendra, who I suspect are working together to bring down Mr. Siddaramaiah. The padayatra is being organized by Mr. Vijayendra as directed by Mr.Shivakumar since the former is obliged to the latter for something that he did to him in the past only available in political truth. This amounts to just ‘adjustment politics.’ However, for clarification purposes I would like both leaders to speak out,’” stated Mr.Yatnal on 29 July in Athani when reporters questioned him on this issue while at Athani where he had gone in order to meet BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi planning a protest.
However, in contrast, reports of rifts among the BJP members are not true as per the legislator from Vijayapura who insisted that “we are one family” but are “looking at different ways of protesting.” Former Mysuru MP Pratap Simha also believes that BJPs’ present-day presidents and their children are gaining all advantages instead of commoners.
Karnataka government no longer under control of its Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was claim by Ramesh Jarkiholi who described him as a leader without liberty emphasizing that there were some interests within Congress guiding him. “He should dissolve Assembly and go back for elections,” said he before mentioning DK’s collusions with JD (S)and few people from BJP so as to force Siddaramaiah resigning and making himself eligible for a post.
Gokak MLA however argues that these alleged irregularities in MUDA are not as serious as allegations of diversion of funds by the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Schedule Tribe Development Corporation Ltd. And the unauthorised used of SC-ST funds towards implementing the 5 guarantees listed in the Congress manifesto. The BJP high command had also given him the go-ahead to organise a padayatra from Kudal Sangama to Ballari in order to highlight these alleged irregularities.
