A 44-year-old woman from Tripoli, Greece has been charged for quite intentionally igniting two wild fires on agricultural plots for the Kerasitsa area. On August 26, 2024, the Greek police arrested the woman tribe_native, as the investigators determined that she set the fires on August 24 and 25.
The media is reporting that the woman’s reason for setting the fires was apparently her wish to flirt with the firemen who will come to put them out.
As per reports from Skai TV, she said she will set the fires for her to find a soldier in charge. She was noted at both incidents causing the firefighters in attendance to be suspicious of her and she was thereafter arrested.
Including a clip of the incident, Daily News reported ‘A 44-year-old woman in Greece has set two forest fires because she liked watching firefighters and had some fun trying to flirt with them. The unknown woman was sentenced to ‘three years in prison but with the option of suspension.’
Such actions have landed her a suspended term of 36 months in prison and a court order of 1,000 Euro which is approximately 1,106 USD to be paid as fine. The condition of a suspended sentence refers to the fact that she shall not be confined at once, but should she default on any of the conditions laid out or pleads guilty to any further offenses within the stated period, the three-year sentence will be served in addition to whatever the further offense is sentenced.
The fire brigade managed to respond to both blazes, which affected minimal open land area, in a reasonable timeframe.
