Police said a woman in her mid-50s was injured on June 18 when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites went off after she stepped on it in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.
According to a police official, the incident occurred at 6.30am while Jogi, a resident of Nadpalli village under Usoor police station area, was collecting forest produce.
According to him, She accidentally put her foot on top of one such IED that had been laid under pressure resulting in an explosion which caused severe injuries on her two legs.
He added that Ms. Jogi was rushed immediately to Usoor health center where she received preliminary treatment prior to being referred to Bijapur district hospital for further treatment

Bijapur District Police report say that five people have lost their lives in separate places due to Naxal-planted IED blasts within the last two-and-a-half months.
On June 2nd, another young man aged 22 years sustained injuries during a similar occurrence at Tarrem area of this district.
